Reimagining a trusted drug information platform for an AI-assisted prescribing future.
Drug information platforms have long been trusted references for prescribing, dosing, contraindications, and drug interactions. But as AI assistants become increasingly capable of answering clinical questions, the role of these products is beginning to shift. Rather than asking how Medlink's interface could be modernized, I explored a broader product question:

THE CHALLENGE
The competitive risk isn't simply better search.
It's that prescribing guidance may increasingly happen inside AI assistants, leaving traditional reference platforms as passive sources of information rather than active clinical tools. The opportunity wasn't to compete with AI. It was to identify where HCP's still need transparency, confidence, and trustworthy decision support and design around those moments.

Workflow maps
Mapped the prescribing journey
Translated interview and survey findings into workflow maps showing where a drug information product genuinely earns its place in a clinician's day.
AI at the decision
Defined the AI opportunity
An AI prescribing-guidance concept positioned where the research showed clinicians actually hesitate — grounded in the competitive gap, not AI for its own sake.
Search, rebuilt
Redesigned the core surfaces
A rebuilt drug search results experience and a full homepage redesign — the two surfaces where reference speed is won or lost.





OUTCOMES
A research-grounded product direction: validated HCP workflows, a defined AI feature strategy, and redesigned core surfaces, the full arc from field research to interface. As a self-initiated concept, its next step is the one the process points to: usability testing the redesigned surfaces with practicing Health care professionals.
REFLECTION
What I learned
The most valuable insight didn't come from competitor analysis or desk research. It came from speaking directly with a clinician. Even a single interview uncovered workflow nuances that fundamentally changed the direction of the product. Those insights shaped the workflow maps, informed the product strategy, and ultimately influenced every interface decision. It reinforced something I believe as a product designer: meaningful research doesn't need to be massive to change a design, it needs to be intentional.
Why this project
Client work demonstrates that I can design and ship production-ready products. This concept demonstrates something different. It shows how I approach an undefined problem: identifying a strategic product opportunity, validating assumptions through research, defining a product direction, and translating those insights into thoughtful user experiences. It's the kind of work I'd love to do more of.
